Outfit of the Week | June 2nd

Happy June 2nd!

Today I am wearing another of my April Makes.

The print on the fabric used to make this dress is so beautiful. I wish I had more!

I used vogue pattern v895 to make this dress. At first I was nervous to make it in a print, but I think it turned out great!

The fit on this dress is very flattering and true to measurements. I will definitely be making more of this dress.

Until next time,

Outfit of the Week | May 20th

Happy May 20th!

I’m wearing another of my April Makes this week. I love, love, love this dress.

It was made using McCalls M6462. I have had this pattern hidden in my stash for ages. I would pull it out from time to time think about using, but never committed.

I keep raving about the pockets on this dress, but seriously guys they make the dress. And the twirls you can get in it too!

Until next time,

Outfit of the Week | May 12th

Hi everyone,

Welcome back to my blog.

My outfit of the week this week is a co-ord set from my April Makes.

The skirt was make using a vintage Buttericks pattern.

The top was make using the shell of an old PU top.

Together the outfit is dazzling. As far as interesting makes goes this hands down wins the top prize for April.

I had my heart set on making a skirt out of this fabric, and the top just ended up being happy accident that just worked out well.

You can see this outfit in motion on my YouTube Channel.

Until next time,

Sew & Tell | April 2017

Hi Everyone,

DIY | Cafe Curtains

Welcome back to my blog in this post I’m going to show you how to make cafe curtains.

About Cafe Curtains

I’m not completely sure how cafe curtains got their name, but I do know they have been around for many many years. The term is used to describe curtains that cover the lower part of a window. Not just curtains found in a cafe as the name may suggest. Typically cafe curtains are formed as one curtain, but they can be made in 2 parts. As I have done in this tutorial.

Sew & Tell | March 2017

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my blog. March was a very unproductive sewing month for me. Of all my sewing plans I managed to complete 3, start 1 and the rest fell by the wayside.

I did complete 2, additional, unplanned makes. But it did stress me out quite a lot that I wasn’t able to make everything I had said I would/wanted to. And so, for now, March will be the last planned sewing month. Before I made a commitment to myself to take blogging and YouTube more serious; on my path to successful self-employment. My sewing was a lot more free and creative.

I would make a plan to sew something on the stop. I would pull on inspiration from anywhere, whether it be fabric in a shop or from my stash or images and things around me. I had a lot more fun sewing that way, so as of April I will return to that and see how the following months projects turn out.

For now, lets get into my March Makes.

Outfit of the Week | Mar 17th

Welcome back to my blog.

This week I’m wearing a, self-drafted, front split sequin pencil skirt with a Miss Selfridge slogan t, championing the slogan and sequin trend.

The skirt is part of a set. I made a sequin co-ord for a Pretty Girls Sew challenge at the end of 2015. It was the first thing I ever made out of sequins. I love it. The batwing sleeves of the top makes it harder to wear, as it doesn’t sit comfortably under a coat or jacket.

The mix of casual, smart and glamour, makes this one of my favourite outfits.

The sequins on the fabric I used lay flat. So most people don’t realise they are sequins until they get close. I strongly recommend lining sequin fabric, this self-drafted skirt is not lined. Big mistake, my legs get covered in little scratches after a days wear. But that won’t stop me from wearing it!

Until next time,

Outfit of the Week | Mar 10th

Welcome back to my blog.

This week I’m wearing a chambray jacket I made in February (2017), a cami top I made a couple of years ago with a gifted jacquard skirt.

I’m going to have to recreate this skirt, it’s so flattering and I always get complimented on it.

In the summer. Or at the very least when it gets hotter. In England who knows when that will be. I’ll pair this outfit with some embellished sandals to give it a little something extra.

Until next time,
