Sew & Tell | February 2017

Welcome back to my blog. Today I’m going to run through the items I made in February.

I also have a YouTube video, so you can see these items live in action.

The first item I made was a 1950s shirt.

I used a Simplicity 1166. I’m not completely convinced of this shirt. The next time I make it I will need to a few amendments, so that it can fit more as I envisioned.

The second item I made in February was a pair of floral trousers.

I made these out of a beautiful floral print chiffon. And used Vogue 8955.

I finally got around to making some jeans in February.

Using my trusty Mimi Gee pattern, I made a pair using chambray fabric. As pleased as I am that I have finally made a pair of jeans. It’s over shadowed by the flaws in the make. There wasn’t enough stretch in the fabric and the pattern fits everywhere but my waist.

The next time I make them I will have to make some adjustments to the waist. Oh and use fabric with more stretch.

I used the leftover chambray fabric to make a jacket using McCall’s 7332.

Last but not least. I made a pair of grey trousers.

I used gaberdine fabric and performed a pattern hack on Vogue 8865. A tutorial for these trousers will be posted on my channel, subscribe to make sure you don’t miss out.

I made a bra top from the leftover gaberdine fabric, using Simplicity 1166. I made a slight strap amendment to the grey version, and made an additional bra top in khaki fabric, as per the instructions, to pair with the wide leg trousers.

They are all my makes for February. Leave any comments or questions in the box below.

Until next time,
